Azerbaijani NGO leaders have addressed UNESCO Director-General Odre Azuley at a conference to assess the state of Azerbaijan's cultural heritage in Armenia, QHT reports.
"There were fortresses, mosques, different monuments in today's Armenian territory, which was historical Azerbaijani land. But they were destroyed in mass," said a member of the Observatory Council of Agency for State Support to Non-governmental Organizations Ilgar Orujov at the press conference on the assessment of the condition of Azerbaijan's cultural heritage in Armenia, QHT reports.
According to I. Orujov, the international community, especially UN structure, dealing with the protection of historical monuments, UNESCO should absolutely comment on the issue.
"Unfortunately, we witness double standards in this direction over the recent years. At the same time, there are some forces that can not accept Azerbaijan's Victory in the 44-day Patriotic War yet. I think, our appeal in this direction is very significant."
