On 12 February 2026, info session dedicated to urban planning, sustainability principles, and the Thirteenth Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) was organized for representatives of Azerbaijan’s civil society. The session was held with the organization of WUF13 Azerbaijan Operations Company and in partnership with the State Support Agency for Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, bringing together nearly 100 NGO representatives.
As part of the session, participants received a presentation on WUF13’s programme and key updates. The session also explored global challenges in urban planning and sustainability, factors influencing cities’ carbon footprints, and leading international best practices.
Presentations highlighted climate-resilient urban systems, housing provision, the importance of urban mobility, and accessible and inclusive urban development for citizens. Discussions further focused on the role of civil society in advancing sustainable urban development and the contributions NGOs can make in this area.
