Azerbaijani Expert Samir Aliyev Elected to the Leadership of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum
Azerbaijani expert Samir Aliyev has been elected to the leadership of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum (EaP Civil Society Forum).
Aliyev has been elected as the Coordinator of Working Group 2 and a member of the Forum's Steering Committee.
He announced the news on his social media account, stating that he had recently been informed of his election. In his new role, he will coordinate the Forum's Working Group 2 while also serving on the Steering Committee, the Forum's main decision-making body responsible for setting its strategic direction.
The Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum is one of the largest and most influential civil society platforms in the region, bringing together approximately 1,200 civil society organizations from the European Union and the Eastern Partnership countries.
Working Group 2, one of the Forum's five thematic working groups, focuses on economic integration, approximation with European Union policies, economic resilience, sustainable development, as well as labour and social policies.
Samir Aliyev represents the Center for Economic and Social Development (CESD) in the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum.
It is noteworthy that Samir Aliyev is the second representative from Azerbaijan elected to the 2026–2028 Steering Committee of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum. Sabina Alakbarova, the newly elected Coordinator of the Azerbaijan National Platform, also serves as a member of the Steering Committee. As a result, Azerbaijan will be represented by two members on the Forum's governing body.
The newly elected Steering Committee will officially begin its mandate on 1 July 2026
